what makes a walk-in wardrobe work

A walk-in wardrobe is a dedicated room or alcove you step into — no wall returns or door frames limiting what you can fit or how you arrange it.

Our walk-in wardrobe kitsets start from $393, built from 18mm quality melamine in white or oak, and ship pre-drilled with all fixings, rails and shelving included. Video and PDF assembly instructions are packed in with every order. Allow 550–600mm depth on each wall for hanging and 800–1000mm clearance through the centre, and you’ve got a wardrobe that functions as well as it looks.

choose the layout that fits your room

walk-in wardrobe layouts we carry

  • I-shape (single wall) — runs along one wall, well-suited to narrow rooms or spaces where you want a clean, linear setup
  • L-shape — turns a corner, giving you more hanging and shelving capacity across two walls without needing a large footprint
  • U-shape — wraps three walls for maximum storage, best suited to rooms of at least 1.5m x 2m with clearance to move through the centre

All layouts are available in white or oak and can be configured with hanging zones, shelf towers, drawers and shoe storage to suit your storage needs.

planning your layout before you order

walk-in wardrobe ideas: making the most of your space

We always recommend planning your internal layout before you order. A mix of long hanging for dresses and coats, short hanging for shirts and jackets, and a shelf tower for folded items and shoes covers everyday storage. Keep what you reach for daily at eye level and use higher shelves for seasonal pieces.

Our 3D planner lets you map your actual room dimensions against different walk-in wardrobe ideas before committing. And if you’d like input on layout before buying, get in touch and we’ll work through it with you!

frequently asked questions

A minimum of 1.5m x 2m gives you a functional walk-in wardrobe with enough clearance to move through comfortably. Allow 550–600mm depth on each wall for hanging clothes and 800–1000mm in the centre to move freely. For smaller spaces, an I-shape or L-shape layout makes the most of what you have. Our 3D planner lets you map your dimensions against available configurations before you order.
Yes. Our walk-in wardrobe systems are modular, so you can combine hanging rails, shelf towers, drawers and shoe storage across the layout. Top panels and hanging rails arrive oversized for trimming to your exact width. Individual cabinets and parts are also available separately if you want to extend an existing setup later.
Our walk-in wardrobes NZ range starts from $393. Pricing varies depending on the layout size and number of components. I-shape configurations at the entry level sit well below what custom joinery costs for the same space, and the finished result, in 18mm melamine with a 5-year manufacturing warranty, holds up the same way.
A smaller I-shape or L-shape walk-in wardrobe takes a few hours to assemble. Larger U-shape configurations may take a full day, depending on the number of towers and components. You'll need a screwdriver, saw, level, hammer, measuring tape and pencil — a cordless drill is optional but speeds things up. Every kit ships with pre-drilled panels, all fixings and full video and PDF instructions to guide you through it.
Our walk-in wardrobe kits are designed for DIY assembly. No specialist tools or trade knowledge required. If you'd prefer to have it installed, we can refer you to third-party installers for a fee. Contact us for details.
A reach-in wardrobe sits within a defined cavity, which means you reach in from one side, and the width is set by the wall returns and door opening. A walk-in wardrobe is a space you step into entirely, with no walls restricting the layout. That open footprint is what makes walk-in configurations so flexible. You can run storage along two or three walls and build a setup that a reach-in cavity simply can't accommodate.
Yes. All our walk-in wardrobe systems carry a 5-year manufacturing warranty. Keep your invoice as proof of purchase. The warranty covers manufacturing faults and excludes damage from misuse, improper installation or unauthorised modifications.
